What is Marketing?
There are
many definitions of Marketing but essentially it is a process
of defining
a target customer group, understanding their needs and wants,
and delivering products or services that satisfy those needs
better than anyone else.Many people confuse marketing with
promotions. It is much more than producing a glossy brochure
for products. At its widest, marketing is a full view of the
company taken from the point of view of the customer.
Marketing is also confused with sales. Sales is often an
important part of marketing, but marketing is much more.
Marketing:
- defines target
customers.
- identifies how products will compete and
win business.
- lists a winning mix of product features,
pricing, promotions and distribution which
will beat the competition.
- defines the measures of success
- co-ordinates the action plan to deliver
that success
